The Mean Well power supplies of the HLG series come in a robust aluminum housing and are protected against overload, overvoltage and short circuit. The design of the metal housing and the protection class IP65 allow an application both indoors and in the protected outdoor area.

Choose the right power supply for your LED strip light
Function of a LED power supply: In order to operate an LED strip light or an entire LED light installation, you need the right power supply. Its primary task is to convert the 230V input voltage (house voltage) into a low-voltage DC voltage, e.g. into 12V or 24V, in some cases also into 5V, 36V or 48V.
Sufficient power and choosing the right voltage is essential when planning your lighting installation. For example, if you use a LED strip light with a 12V input voltage, you must use a power supply with an output voltage of 12V. When calculating the power, we recommend you to plan a safety reserve of at least 20%. Add up the power of all connected consumers and divide the result by 0.8. Example: Sum of all consumers = 130 W | 130 W / 0.8 = 162.5 W. A power supply unit of the next size with 185 W would be required.
Important! The power supply unit must be installed in a place in the ceiling or in the wall that can be inspected and that you can access at any time. Installation in an airtight place and/or surrounded by insulating material will cause the PSU to overheat and shorten its lifetime considerably. When reaching 80°C, the power supply switches off and on again in a short sequence to protect it from overheating. You will notice this as the LEDs flashing.
The connection of the power supply to the 230V power supply network must be done by a qualified electrician!

Thanks to the high efficiency of up to 91.5% (depending on type) and the fanless design, the entire series can be operated with free air exchange at -40 ° C to + 80 ° C case temperature.
This HLG series has an integrated potentiometer for optional adjustment of current limit and output voltage.

Please note that an inrush current of up to 40A flows for a short time when the power supply is switched on electrically.
Several power supplies switched on at the same time may cause your fuse to blow.

The power supply works with an integrated protection circuit which becomes active in one of the three cases.

Afterwards you should disconnect the power supply completely for a short time and let it cool down. After a few minutes the power supply can be reconnected and operated.
